Physical education is an integral part of the school curriculum.
IELTS ESSAY - Writing Task Two
Physical education is an
integral part of the school curriculum. However, more and more people
consider this subject useless and are reluctant to do it. In my
opinion, doing sports makes our lives better because it is essential
for our health. This is why sports classes should play an even more
important role in our education.
First of all, because of
sports we are able to keep in good shape. Thus we develop our muscles
and become more flexible, as well. Physical education at school also
teaches is a great variety of sports like football, basketball,
volleyball, etc. For example, it has been observed that children who
have sports classes in their schools have less health problems. If
teachers are well-prepared with different type of exercises we would
be able to keep fit. So, physical education has a great influence on
improving out fitness.
What is more, sports teach
self-discipline. Exercising makes us more organised and gives us the
opportunity to figure out a proper schedule of our activities. For
example, if physical education is the first class, we have to wake up
early in order to prepare ourselves and do warming up, so as not to
pull any muscles during the training. Furthermore, self-discipline
helps us get over the problems against the odds. This is why
teachers put great effort into teaching their students to be
disciplined.
To sum up, both aspects show
the positive side of physical education. I totally disagree with the
statement that this subject has no place in the school curriculum. In
my opinion, people should look on the bright side of sports classes
because they may be very beneficial to our lives.
